Stupidity does not become them

There is no doubt Amazon.com became the most significant seller of books and ebooks these days. The reason is simple. Traditional Publishing houses stopped investing in new talents. One Professor told so to two of his students with a soul-crushing clarity. Publishing Houses got lazy because social media became the most impressive tool to detect influencers and fame. Having This plethora of free information they did not need to mine for new authors. They simply used it to see who was on top and then accept those people’s pitch. Easy but deadly. The publishers defend themselves saying the market is hard. It changed too fast. The computer became more important than books. People don’t read as much. Youth doesn’t want books but video games. And lots of other ridiculous excuses. Amazon used the opportunity with cunning, creating Kindle self-publishing and Create Space, and opening possibilities to the new talents the publishers threw away. The giant could provide content for her-reader co

Benjamin did not say it but he would have agreed

The man lying down so comfortably in the picture is a famous writer. His works impacted through The Faust, where a man sells his soul to the devil. The book became a popular reference for horror and fantasy writers and according to many is the source of a lot of misconceptions about the human soul. The 'Sorrows of Young Werther' is another one of his famous works and portrays a man who destroys his life because of extreme and unthoughtful acts. Notwithstanding the fact that the words attributed to Benjamin Franklin "We are all born ignorant but one must work hard to remain stupid." is now unclaimed , a brief study on Benjamin's public life and work shows he did not stand fools and dedicated himself to fighting for his beliefs. What the quotes have in common with Goethe's two books is they teach based on reality. We are not born ready to do the right things, but life is a great study, teaching through experience. You just need to pay attention to the lessons.

Do You Pay Attention to Details?

Two things came to my mind when I SAW this photo. The first one is how cute it is. It is not possible to ignore the sweet care of this mother hen for those two kittens. Second, despite the natural difference between the animals, their species, their eating habits, their purpose in human life, their colors blend, making the kittens almost invisible. It’s the chicken’s attitude that makes the actual difference. She sits on them and offers them her warmth.      Frailty touches our hearts. A very interesting study on the matter by Elena Hatschen and other scientists, named Human-animal relationships and interactions during the Covid-19 lockdown phase in the UK: Investigating links with mental health and loneliness relate the phenomena to the isolation of COVID-19. This cuteness fever that seems as powerful as the deadly virus also has different strains. Not only pets, but wild animals, farm animals, and human babies reach millions of views on youtube.      People are lonely, cooped up

Help! I'm Stuck! #1

I feel you, sister, brother. Every technique fails one day. The writer's blank is not a figment of the imagination. I want to reveal some practical ways to get over it. However, because it has many causes, I'm writing a series on the theme. For that, I need to 'diagnose' your situation. Case #1: Your story seems to be running in circles. The sad answer, it probably is. Usually, it happens because you are not so sure about the end game. Do you want it to be for fun reading or to make people think? Psychological plots use this running in circles quite well. Because one of the main dramas in life is the lack of focus. So, it is not always a bad thing. Just make clear the emotions of the characters are inside the text. Show him/her drumming fingers, pulling hair, making repetitive movements for no reason. You get the picture. In nonfiction, some authors tell stories to convey a message. It's very effective. If you read the Bible you are familiar with the technique. J

What's the Best Genre to Make Money?

Truth is every genre. "Come on! Self-help books make a lot," one friend argued. I'm telling you a tough truth. It's a fad. Sorry guys, but book genres are like anything else. They follow the market tendencies, so they are fads. Watch the Oscar, that's the new fad. The new tendency. Somebody might say the book that the movie guys used to make the movie came first. It was a huge success and only then became a Hollywood hit. The fact is books and movies intermingle. A book is selling ok then a movie guy reads it and there. He makes a movie. Soon after, you have millions of books in every store and every hand. A good example is the Lord of the Rings. Fantasy books became the thing after the movie's success. If you follow me, Twilight is another example. After the movie, everybody and their cousin were writing Vampire stories. Something that would be laughable, even ridiculous before the movie. Let's take a closer look at that. Dracula is one of the most amaz

Some Experiences Are Worth Sharing

"Floating in God's hands is better than swimming alone" comes from an irritation. I thought the "About me" is too restrictive. Can you tell who a person is in 1200 words? I guess not. I love making friends and opening the door to new relationships. Why? Because I believe in learning from other people. Life is an adventure and having a guide helps a lot. Am I supposed to go around telling people how to live their lives? No, I wouldn't do that because giving advice when nobody asked is intruding. Did you find a solution? Yes, I did. I'm sharing tips and you feel free to read them. When you share your thoughts, I will be learning too. I believe I have a good deal here. Some facts about me. I like to learn about religion, but I am not religious. Nevertheless, I trust The Bible is the most amazing life guide ever. My first petty peeve for you: I hate people who believe they must act bloodlessly and passively because it is the righteousness required to be a Ch

Why are some characters boring?

What do you think a good character has that makes him/her special? A group of writers will make a long list for you, but every one of them will agree on this: an outstanding character has a mix of traits; commendable or despicable. How do I create those characters? I can give you some tips. Have you ever tried to look around, observe people and explore your impressions about whatever you see? People watching is the best to help you visualize how you want your character to sound, look, act, etc. While creating your characters you can ask opinions about sitcom's characters of different genres. Try exploring the personality traits of successful characters. They can give you good ideas. Everyone has opinions about other people, but they might feel uncomfortable talking about them. However, if it is fictional people, it is easier. Whoever they are, fictional or real, nobody acts in just one way or another all the time. A character that is the embodiment of a good mother can have a pet p
